MN United suffers epic collapse in Seattle

With just 15 minutes remaining in the second half and leading 2-0 it looked like Minnesota United would coast to victory in the MLS Western Conference finals in Seattle on Monday night. Then came the final 15 minutes of play and 5 minutes of stoppage time, and perhaps the greatest collapse in Minnesota sports history in a 3-2 loss to the Sounders. Sunday’s MN United match at KC canceled

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (Oct. 31, 2020) – MLS today announced that the Minnesota United match at Sporting Kansas City originally scheduled for Sunday, November 1 at Children’s Mercy Park has been canceled. After confirming one case on Wednesday, a second Minnesota United player was today confirmed positive for COVID-19. Due to the limited number of match dates available prior to Decision Day presented by AT&T, the match will not be rescheduled. Additionally, the San Jose Earthquakes vs. Los Angeles Football Club match scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 1 has been postponed. In a season where they only lost one regular season match at home in their brand new facility at Allianz Field, the timing for Minnesota United’s second loss couldn’t have come at a worse time. The playoffs. The Loons outplayed the LA Galaxy in the first half, according to head coach Adrian Heath, but could not capitalize, and wound up coming up on the short end of a 2-1 score, thus ending a hugely successful season with disappointment.
