Wild go down with a whimper, lose 5-0 to Jets

The Minnesota Wild’s post season ended quickly and with not much push back as they were shut out by the Jets 5-0 Friday night in Winnipeg. With the victory, Winnipeg wins the series 4-1 ending Minnesota’s season. The shut out marked the second straight game that the Wild were held scoreless after being shut out 2-0 Tuesday night in St. Paul. It also marks the second straight season that Minnesota was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs after having made the post season for the sixth straight year. St.Cloud State taps Brett Larson as new men’s hockey coach

Brett Larson is the new head coach of the St.Cloud State Men’s Hockey program. Lucia out as Gopher Hockey coach

University of Minnesota Athletics Director Mark Coyle and Head Coach Don Lucia today announced that Lucia will step down as Minnesota’s head men’s hockey coach, pending the approval of the University’s Board of Regents later this week. Coyle and Lucia have agreed that he will remain with Gopher Athletics as special assistant to the athletics director through June 30, 2019. “Gopher Hockey is not just a college hockey program, it’s a cultural institution in the state of Minnesota, built on more than 90 years of success and tradition.
