Gophers’ Coffey to miss rest of season

University of Minnesota sophomore Amir Coffey (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) will miss the remainder of the season, head coach Richard Pitino announced Saturday. Coffey, who suffered a right shoulder injury in early January, will undergo season-ending surgery. The 6-8 guard has missed a total of 10 games, including the last five. Gophers’ Murphy wins 3rd straight Big 10 Player of the Week award

For the third straight week, Minnesota junior forward Jordan Murphy has been selected the Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Murphy is the first player since Evan Turner of Ohio State to earn the award in three consecutive weeks. Turner did so in 2009, also in the first three weeks of the season. He is just the second Gopher to ever win the award three times in a single season, joining Quincy Lewis in the 1998-99 season. Gopher men’s basketball unveils non-conference schedule.

Featuring 10 home games along with a challenging slate of opponents, the Minnesota men’s basketball team unveiled its non-conference schedule Tuesday. U of M extends Pitino’s contract thru 2022

The University of Minnesota today announced that Head Men’s Basketball Coach Richard Pitino has agreed to a contract extension that adds one year to his existing agreement, placing him under contract with the University through the 2021-22 season.
