Pitino names Jeff Mailhot as assistant coach

University of Minnesota head men’s basketball coach Richard Pitino announced Monday the addition of Jeff Mailhot to his staff as assistant coach. Mailhot has over a decade of college coaching experience, most recently serving in the same role at Iona College last season. “Jeff is a perfect fit for our program,” Pitino said. “He has advanced through all levels of basketball and has a proven reputation as a recruiter and hard worker. In addition to his coaching experience, he is a Minnesota native and has a great understanding of Gopher basketball. Gopher men’s basketball promotes Conroy

University of Minnesota men’s basketball head coach Richard Pitino announced Saturday that assistant coach Ed Conroy has been elevated to the title of associate head coach. “Ed Conroy has been vital to our program’s success on and off the court since he has been here,” said Pitino. “He is a phenomenal recruiter and a terrific teacher of the game.  He has been integral in the development of our big men over the years. The Gopher men’s basketball team got 21 points from sophomore Marcus Carr including a gamewinning three pointer with three seconds to go as Minnesota went on to a 62-59 win over the Buckeyes in Columbus. Wolves sign former Gopher Jordan Murphy

Minneapolis/St. Paul – Minnesota Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas today announced the team has signed forward Jordan Murphy. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released. Murphy, 22, played for the Timberwolves in the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, averaging 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per game over seven games. Murphy played four seasons for the University of Minnesota, averaging 13.5 points and 9.8 rebounds in 133 games. Gophers’ Coffey to miss rest of season

University of Minnesota sophomore Amir Coffey (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) will miss the remainder of the season, head coach Richard Pitino announced Saturday. Coffey, who suffered a right shoulder injury in early January, will undergo season-ending surgery. The 6-8 guard has missed a total of 10 games, including the last five.
