Coon Rapids, Minnesota (August 21, 2019) — Caleb Truax is withdrawing from his August 31st match against Peter Quillin due to a right Achilles injury. Dr. Paul Schaefer of Health Partners’ Stillwater Medical Group recently diagnosed Truax with a “high-grade, partial-thickness tear of the Achilles tendon on his right ankle.” Truax initially sustained the Achilles injury in March, and the nature of the high-grade tear presented surgery and non-operative management as options. Truax elected for the latter option, starting with six weeks in a boot, then he transitioned to physical therapy and was progressing. After posting an impressive 2-1 victory in their opening game of the Little League World Series, the Minnesota team from Coon Rapids-Andover American Little League took one on the chin today, losing 11-0 in four innings to a team from South Riding, Virginia. The Virginia team representing the Southeast Region, became just the second U.S. team ever to post back to back no-hitters in their first two games of the World Series. Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed designated hitter Nelson Cruz on the 10-day Injured List with a left wrist strain. Cruz injured his wrist on a swing during the fourth inning of last night’s game with the Cleveland Indians. In 87 games for the Twins this season, Cruz is hitting .294 (95-for-323) with 19 doubles, 32 home runs, 76 RBI, 41 walks, 59 runs scored and a 1.035 OPS.
