Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced tonight that they will recall left-handed pitcher Adalberto Mejía from Triple-A Rochester. Mejía, who is scheduled to start tomorrow vs. the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, made nine starts for the Red Wings this season, going 4-2 with a 2.74 ERA (49.1 IP, 15 ER), 16 walks and 50 strikeouts.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Mejía started 21 games for the Twins in 2017, going 4-7 with a 4.50 ERA (98.0 IP, 49 ER), 45 walks and 85 strikeouts.
Mejía will take the 25-man roster spot of reliever Alan Busenitz, who was optioned to Rochester after Friday afternoon’s game. Busenitz pitched in six games this season, going 2-0 with a 6.43 ERA (7.0 IP, 5 ER), two walks and 12 strikeouts.
