Nolasco wins final rotation spot; Duffy sent to AAA

Despite an up and down Spring Training,  veteran Ricky Nolasco will be in the Minnesota Twins starting rotation when they break camp later this week. That news was made earlier today when the Twins announced that they had sent Tyler Duffy to AAA Rochester. The Minnesota Twins also announced today that they have optioned r left-handed pitcher Ryan O’Rourke to Triple-A Rochester.  Additionally, they have reassigned left-handed pitcher Logan Darnell and right-handed pitcher Brandon Kintzler to minor league camp. Twins trim roster to 29; send out Quentin

Ft. Myers, FL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have optioned catcher John Hicks to Triple-A Rochester.  Additionally, they have reassigned the following players to minor league camp:  left-handed pitcher Dan Runzler, catcher Juan Centeno, infielder James Beresford and outfielders Darin Mastroianni and Carlos Quentin. Twins send Kepler to AAA Rochester; release Sweeney

Ft. Myers, FL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have optioned outfielder Max Kepler to Triple-A Rochester.  Additionally, the Twins have released outfielder Ryan Sweeney who was in major league camp as a non-roster player. Kepler hit .233 this spring in 30 at bats while Sweeney hit .270 in 37 at bats. Today’s moves leave Danny Santana, Carlos Quentin, Darin Mastroianni and Oswaldo Arcia as the remaining outfielders behind projected starters Byron Buxton, Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario. Gopher men’s hockey eliminated

The No. 20 Gopher Hockey program’s effort to lock up an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament came up just short on Saturday as Minnesota fell to No. 7 Michigan 5-3 in the Big Ten Tournament championship game at Xcel Energy Center.   The Gophers rallied from a two-goal deficit with three-straight goals in the second period but couldn’t contain the Wolverines’ high-powered offense and power-play units.   Leon Bristedt, Jake Bischoff and Justin Kloos scored for the Maroon & Gold while Eric Schierhorn closed out his rookie campaign with a 30-save performance and 20 wins – a figure that … Continue reading Gopher men’s hockey eliminated

Gopher men’s hockey advances to Big 10 title game

Mpls City Council gives final approval for Target Center renovation

Minneapolis – The Minneapolis City Council, by a vote of 10-3, granted final approval today to the Target Center Renovation project. It includes a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $102.8 million in hard construction costs for the $129.8 million project. Construction on the project is slated to begin on May 6, with final completion expected in the fall of 2017.
