Eden Prairie, MN (December 30, 2015) – Minnesota Vikings K Blair Walsh was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Weekafter booting the Vikings into the playoffs, while connecting on 5-of-5 FGs, including two 50+ yard FGs in Minnesota’s 49-17 win over the New York Giants. This marks the 5th time in Walsh’s career that he has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the most in Vikings history. Peterson is Vikes lone Pro Bowl rep

Eden Prairie, MN – Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has been selected by players, fans and coaches to the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl.  (photo by Marilyn Indahl) Peterson currently ranks first in the NFL in rushing with 1,314 yards and is tied for 3rd in the league with 9 rushing scores. His 9-yard rushing touchdown at Arizona (12/10) gave him 100 career total touchdowns, the 2nd most in Vikings history. Timberwolves recall Tyus Jones from D-League

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the club has recalled rookie guard Tyus Jones from the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League. In six games, all starts, for Idaho, Jones averaged 24.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals in 35.2 minutes per game. He shot 48.7 percent from the floor, including a 42.6 percent mark from three-point range during his stint with the Stampede. In his final game before being recalled, Jones scored 30 points while adding five rebounds and five assists. Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu has been named the NHL’s third star of the week for his play this past week. Koivu tied for first in the NHL with 3-5—8 in three games to lift the Wild (17-8-6, 40 points) to a pair of wins. He started the week with 1-3—4 – his third career three-point performance and first since Jan. 2, 2011 vs. PHX (0-4—4) – in a 6-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks Dec. 15. Cuddy & Me: Michael Cuddyer Memories

Michael Cuddyer gracefully exited the major league stage last weekend. His 15-year career included two All Star appearances and a batting title. The only player to witness the rise and fall of the Twins Central Division Dynasty of the 2000s in its entirety, Cuddyer will always be remembered in Twins Territory for his versatility, clutch hitting and boyish smile. Gopher men’s hockey team salvages split in Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Three juniors scored and Eric Schierhorn made 33 saves in a 3-2 win at No. 9 Michigan as the Gopher Hockey program goes into the break in sole possession of first place in the Big Ten Conference.   Vinni Lettieri and Jake Bischoff each picked up a goal and an assist while Hudson Fasching also tallied for Minnesota.   Schierhorn made 33 saves to pick up the win and move to 7-8-0 on the year.   After killing off a pair of penalties to start the game, the Gophers took advantage on their first power-play opportunity. … Continue reading Gopher men’s hockey team salvages split in Michigan
